Adapted Play is a wonderful activity where the whole family is welcome. This 13-week program is offered twice a year and is free for “Friends of S.Au.S.” members. Mom and dad can watch while the children play with our many sensory and adapted toys: tents, tunnels, sensory balls, Plasma cars, scooter boards, balance boards, hoppers, parachutes, streamers, etc.
There are numerous benefits to the program such as improving gross motor skills, coordination, and muscle tone while working on their individual growth, interpersonal skills and engaging in group play. Physical activity promotes self-esteem, increase general levels of happiness, and can lead to positive social outcomes, all highly beneficial outcomes for individuals with autism.
It is a wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning and an opportunity to meet other parents from the community who share similar experiences. One or two S.Au.S. monitors/volunteers are on-site to manage the activity. Parents are expected to care for their own children. Under no circumstances should a parent leave their child unattended.
PLEASE NOTE: Registration is not required for this program – simply show up and show your membership card.
